Registered home sales during the first quarter increased 13.6% over the previous quarter
17th June 2021In the analysis of the average housing surface, this has increased again (0.8%), registering its maximum in the historical series with 102.9m2 for the housing complex.
In new free housing, the average transferred area has risen to 111.4m2, exceeding the historical maximum that was reached in the previous quarter (110.9m2). For its part, used housing reached an average area of 101.4m2, which is also its largest record in the historical series. Consequently, a generalization of the growth of the transferred average surface continues to take place, confirming the new preferences of the buyers.
The historical evolution of the eight largest provincial capitals by number of inhabitants confirms a predominance of the reduction in the relative weight of housing sales in these capitals with respect to the total of their province. Taking, for example, the four major provincial capitals, Madrid has registered a weight of 44.1% in the last quarter, while in mid-2015 it accounted for 57.7% of purchases and sales in the province. In Barcelona the weight is 23.1% and in mid-2014 it represented 36.1% of purchases in the province. Valencia showed a weight of 25.7% and at the end of 2016 it was at 37.3%. Finally, Seville registers 37.3% of the province's house sales, while at the end of 2016 it exceeded 50%. These data point to a certain inertia towards the search for housing in population centers with lower density, which should be confirmed in subsequent quarters.
