Sales of homes by foreigners rise 47%

Difference in prices by type of buyer and by autonomy.
The average price per square meter of operations carried out by foreign buyers in the first half of 2021, referring to free housing, stood at € 1,863 / m2. This meant an increase in prices of 4.1% year-on-year. Non-resident foreigners once again paid higher amounts for their homes (€ 2,452 / m2) than residents (€ 1,498 / m2) and nationals (€ 1,481 / m2).
The average price paid by non-resident foreigners increased by 9.0% and that of residents by 1.4% in both cases above the national buyer (0.7%)
Regarding prices for autonomy, the evolution was uneven, increasing in eight Autonomous Communities and decreasing in the remaining nine. The increases reached double-digit rates in the Balearic Islands (11.0%) followed by Andalusia, Galicia, Madrid, and Navarra with increases between 5.8% and 6.3%. More moderate increases were recorded in the Valencian Community (2.5%), the Canary Islands and the Basque Country.
On the other hand, double-digit setbacks were recorded in Extremadura (-31.9%), Asturias (-20.7%), Cantabria and La Rioja. The decreases were more moderate in Murcia, the two Castiles, Aragon and Catalonia, oscillating between -8.0 and -1.1%.
