Spain needs 1.2 million rental homes to meet demand, according to Savills
8th March 2022In Spain there are 4.2 million rental homes, of which only 5% are in the hands of institutions, so to alleviate the imbalance between supply and demand in stressed cities, 1.2 million homes are needed between now and 2030, according to Savills Aguirre Newman.
This is the main conclusion of the study 'The future of build to rent (BTR), market prospects and tax aspects', presented this Friday, in which the CEO of Savills Aguirre Newman, Jaime Pascual-Sanchiz, highlighted that, in terms of BRT, Spain must follow in the footsteps of its European neighbours.
"Spain faces the social, economic and professional challenge of the sector in order to follow in the footsteps of the markets in Europe, which are ahead of us". After the period of confinement, cities continue to attract talent and "we must take advantage of the opportunity to create an industry where the institutional part has traditionally not been present", he stated.
